Hello! I am David, a Ph.D. student in Political Science at the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences at the University of Mannheim. As part of my PhD, I worked as a research associate at the Chair of Comparative Government, teaching seminars on data collection, transformation, and visualization using R. I also worked as a PhD Trainee at the European Central Bank’s EU Institutions and Fora division.
My research explores how political and societal transformations, such as climate change, digitalization, or EU cohesion policy affect (intra-)party competition, political behavior, and political communication. Methodologically, I draw on a range of approaches, with a focus on computational text analysis of parliamentary speeches, press releases, and social media data. In my dissertation, I study how parties, politicians, and citizens deal with the consequences of climate change.
Feel free to reach out via e-mail, Bluesky, or LinkedIn if you are interested in my research or collaboration.
